I just booked my ticket back for your graduation weekend party! Hopefully it doesn't rain on Saturday because my flight back to Los Angeles is on Sunday. I'm looking forawrd to seeing you and everyone next month.
I've been reading about all the lobbying and legislating going on here in CA and back there in NJ concerning stem cell research. I can't help but think that because the Hollywood Democrats and big-time Republicans like Nancy Reagan and Gerald Ford agree that this research is vital, that soon the onerous restrictions will be lifted and great advances will be made here in America as opposed to just overseas. When you get bi-partisan support like that, things happen. Aunt Renee has been keeping me up to date on everything and it sounds like good things are just around the corner.
How about those Yankees? Jeter can't hit, Sheffield can't hit a HR, Giambi always seems to be hurting, Lofton is a crybaby, no #5 starter and yet we have won 6 straight series and if they win tonight against Anaheim it will be 7. Not too bad for team with alot of problems huh? How about this for an All-Star game matchup in July: Roger Clemens v. Kevin Brown ... unbelievably it looks like that would be the matchup if the All-Star game were tomorrow.

New message from Carl's family:

Update 6/07
Mr. O 6/9/2004 8:35:16 AM

Carl, I just wanted to respond to your parent's message. I did not know Carl from anyone before the injury, and I got to know him through meeting him at various wrestling matches and school functions this year year. Yes, I never saw the athlete, or the full of energy person Carl was before the injury, but I did see the most important parts of what makes a person, his heart and his personality. Those are the characteristics that stand out the most in you Carl, and people will see that right away. So don't fret over meeting new people. Carl, you have been one of the biggest inspirations for me as a person, teacher, and as a mentor to my students at Watchung Hills. I have been truly blessed to have gotten to know you a little bit this year, and will always be praying for you, and keeping you in my mind.

Hi Carl & family, I just read your story and just wanted to wish you the best. I am 51 years old, female and have been a para for 30 years today. My life went on and some days I say for the better, but everyone is different. You will have good days and bad days, but just keep the faith and family is always the best support to have. God Bless you and I pray you will do whatever you feel you can do. Theresa in Louisiana

Hi Carl –
I am grateful that I have the opportunity to introduce myself over this message board, and will hopefully soon be able to do so in person. I am the girlfriend of your cousin Dan (aka Danny) and also live in Los Angeles. From the moment that Dan and I started dating, he has told me so much about you. I want you to know that you are a constant source of inspiration in his life and that you have touched him in ways that perhaps you don’t even realize. In turn, your story has also deeply affected me and has made be more cognizant of stem cell research and the like. Unfortunately, I am unable to make it back to your graduation later this month. You will however be in my thoughts and prayers.
