Hey Carl, great to hear everything is going so well at school. Based on what I've heard/read about your drive, determination and strength, I wouldn't want to see you on the opposite side of the courtroom. Good luck at school.

Hey Carl,

I know I don't know you at all. I was reading your story about the whole accident and it really brought tears to my eyes. It makes me extremely happy to see how many people have helped you out in the past. Also makes me joyful to see your personal strength and determination. God bless you and all those who have helped. MAY GOD WANT YOU TO WALK AGAIN, ONE DAY.

Take Care

Dear Carl, it's a great pleasure to learn about you and all of your endeavors. My son, Ryan who is now 19-years-old suffered a severe brain injury during his high school homecoming football game on September 30, 2005. Ryan's position was defensive lineman. Ryan is still recovering, but he continues to have significant cognitive and motor difficulties. He continues his rigorous therapy needless to say. We are hoping that you and your mother might guide us in the right direction with the question we pose to you today. Are you aware of any source that reports reliable data on annual catastrophic sports-related injuries? We have seen a few, but we find them unreliable because 1) the reports are dependent on being reported by those involved with the athlete (for example, Ryan's case did not appear on this particular report that is published specifically for college, high school, etc. coaches, trainers, etc.) because those involved did not report the incident; 2) reports do not reflect the entire nation (only various states, therefore not reflecting a true count).

Thank you for taking the time to read our message. And absolutely! We will definitely support further research by contacting your reps as well as our local reps.

Keep up the great work!

Best wishes to you and your family!

If you are still loking for stats this is the official site for National Sports Related Catastrophic Injuries - the site i hard to follow but it is the authority and you can request information by just sending your question to them and they will email you back an answer:

Just click on the "request Information" link and email them your questions.

Hi, Carl! Matt just posted to you and reminded me of you on the Red Sox Fan Forum. I recall when your uncle posted about you on our forum not long after your accident and came here and posted to you. You have done amazingly well and I just wanted to add a word of encouragement to you. Keep up the good work, young man! : )

Carl, it was great to hear your decision to go to law school. Our family does need at least 2 attorneys for some free advice. We want to ease off on Danny alittle.I myself made a phone call. As your dad wrote of being so proud of you,I join the club[words can't express] although your father writes from his heart you can read his true dedication to you. We are all so proud of you!

Carl,

I am the youth wrestling coach for the Princeton (PAWS) wrestling program. Sunday our team won the county tournament. You are an inspiration to all of our wrestling coaches.

Hi Carl and Family!

Thank you so much for your reply with regards to catastrophic sports-related sources. The particular source you refer to is exactly the one I used for my research. As it turns out, this source relies strictly on information reported to them by the coaches, trainers, etc. If the accident is not reported to them, then it doesn't appear on their national report. Such was the case with Ryan. Once I contacted them, they informed me that they would update their records. However, I am not satisfied with this method of data collection. Who knows how many cases may go unreported each year. Afterall, the information they provide is only as good as what they get. This is very unfortunate because many coaches, trainers, etc. are under the impression that many serious sports-related injuries such as severe TBI are uncommon (so I have been told). However, the more research I do, the more I find that it is not uncommon.

Hope all is well!

Dear Carl,

The accident is not your end as you may have noted already. I have nothing to bring to you but to pray for you always. May the Good Lord heal and protect you. Psalm 23.
