I only know Carl and his family through this website, and the various media pieces that I've read/watched. Thanks to the Webmaster for posting the latest video from NBC news which provides a nice update on Carl. I was so moved by this interview because of Carl's strength and attitude (amazing!), that before logging out, I'm making a donation to the trust. Good luck Carl on your first semester at Villanova.

Carl, Well, first let me say that I was thrilled to see you the other day. I was so glad to hear that you were doing well and were enjoying your new endeavor, college. I told you that you had nothing to worry about if you let your personality shine through. God has blessed you Carl with a wonderful personality, remember that the next time you are worried about things. Anyway, just ignore Mr. Hoffman's message about ARod and Jeter, I am sure that David Wright will be playing alot more golf than either one of them for the next few years, in fact, he could be shooting for the PGA tour in a few years. Enjoy the rest of the semester. You're in my prayers. Mr. O (Oftee)

Wow... I have been following your progress ever since I saw the accident on a Florida Wrestling message board right after it happened. With my little brother being a wrestler, I thought about if my brother were in your shoes and I were in your families. I pray to God that if that were the case that my family and I could be as strong as your family and you have been. I am so proud of the amazing progress you have made in this battle. Hope that you have a blast at college and good luck...

Carl Good to hear that you are doing well in college. Although we never met at Watchung Hills, I knew your brother Pete well. Your case in particular has inspired me to help the cause of SCI. I am now a senior at Drew and I've speant the last year doing promising work for therapeutic treatment in SCI. Every day I am in the lab, I think of your case - It is what drives me in my work. I plan on continuing this work next year with the Rutgers/UMDNJ program, eventually perhaps with Dr. Wise Young. With the current body of research being done both in China and here in NJ, I am confident that I will see the day when we fulfill the dream of Christopher Reeve and help you and others out of your chair. Good luck in every endevor.

Carl, tonight the last of the McCarey and Riccio boys who haven't gone to Villanova(yet) show up, when the HOLD'EM wanabees, Kevin, Shane, and Tyler invade the campus. Keep all of the coeds away from them. With their looks it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure they drink their hot cocoa and get to bed by 9 oclock. Hope you guys have fun, and seriously, don't let them get into any trouble!

ANOTHER WORRY FOR ME...I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO IF SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN TO HIM...AFTER ONLY LOSING MY MOM IN APRIL. IT IS TOUGH BEING A GROWN-UP, ISN'T IT? MY BIOLOGICAL CLOCK IS ALL OFF...NO BALANCE. I NEED TO FIND SOME. ANY SUGGESTIONS? KEEP FIGHTING FOR YOURSELF...YOU WILL SURELY MAKE .IT! NEVER GIVE UP WITH YOUR DETERMINATION AND PERSEVERANCE. REMEMBER LOTS OF FOLKS ARE PRAYING AND PULLING FOR YOU. AS ALWAYS MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU EVERY DAY... STAY STRONG... FIGHT HARD AND FAIR... KEEP AT IT... STUDY HARD... Hi Carl! It's Saturday night and I'm home packing for my move from one home to another in Basking Ridge. I move this coming week, and I'm excited to be moving to larger space. How about all the Riccios coming to dinner one night for homemade pizza and sausage bread?! We'll have to make a date for sure when I get more settled and you're all home from school. Keep up the good work (and play) at Villanova, and see you over the holidays. Hugs & Kisses! Denise

Keep fighting and never let anything stand in the way of your goals - just remember that you can do anything that you put your mind to. See you during wrestling season! KLM
