HEY CARL! IT IS DIFFICULT WHEN I THINK OF CHRISTOPHER REEVE'S DEATH...FOR ALL OF US IN THESE HORRIBLE CHAIRS. YET WE MUST CONTINUE HIS CHALLENGE TO FIGHT FOR QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL OF US WITH SI OR OTHER FORMS OF BRAIN INJURY. NOW, HOW ARE YOU DOING? HOPE YOUR STUDIES ARE GOING WELL...I KNOW THERE ARE MANY DISTRACTIONS IN COLLEGE...YET YOUR PURPOSE IS WELL DEFINED. MY P.T. HAS ENDED FOR RIGHT NOW...IT IS VERY UPSETTING FOR ME...YET I FEEL SURE I WILL GET IT BACK IN MAYBE A MONTH. I AM NOT GIVING UP! I CONTINUE TO DO MY WEIGHT TRAINING AND EXERCISES EVERY DAY. I KNOW YOU DO THE SAME WELL, IT IS GETTING LATE AND MY HUSBAND NEEDS TO GET TO BED. STUDY HARD... GOD BLESS... MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR COURAGEOUS FAMILY... WARMLY, CAROL STAY STRONG...

Carl- I'm sure you enjoyed those "Who's your daddy?" chants the fans were giving Pedro the other day at the Stadium -- I know I did. Pedro looks like a muppet these days ... and what is up with that midget he keeps hanging out with? Do you read the Sports Guy's column on espn.com? It is one of the funniest reads around. This week he is doing a daily commentary on the ALCS... he's a big Red Sox fan and it really is a must read for Yanks/Sox fans. I had dinner with Peter and Sarah last night. Sarah mentioned that she was considering Loyola Law school and we ended up figuring out that Sarah works with one of my friends from law school at her firm in New York, small world. I think Barbie and Ken, uh I mean Peter and Sarah, both liked the weather, but Peter thought the people were too laid back. He's probably right, I think I have become a little "California cool/" laid back myself these days ... it probably has something to do with all the smog I inhale out here on a daily basis. Well, from what I hear you've settled in at VU pretty good and have become immune to the gases that frequently are expelled from next-door neighbor, Ryan's backside. Let's hope that after the Yanks win this thing, the VU basketball team can provide some more fun, top 25, meaningful games to carry us through the winter... that and, of course, the Yankees signing Carlos Beltran, Barry Zito, etc. -Danny

CARL, JUST WATCHING THE NLCS GAMES. YOU KNOW THE BOSTON RED SOX VS. THE YANKEES...RIGHT IN GAME 4 THE SOX ARE WINNING...BUT IT ISN'T OVER TIL IT'S OVER...ANYWAY THE YANKEES ARE ON MARK TO WIN THE PENNANT. ENOUGH OF BASEBALL TALK! HOPE YOU ARE WELL. HOW IS COLLEGE LIFE GOING FOR YOU? KEEP AT IT! YOU WILL SUCCEED. MY DAD WAS OVER TODAY...WE GOT SOME PIZZA AND WATCHED FOOTBALL. YOU REMEMBER MY NEIGHBOR'S BROTHER COACHES OKLAHOMA IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL...THEY ARE UNDEFEATED SO FAR AFTER WINNING A BIG ONE AGAINST KANSAS STATE YESTERDAY...GO SOONER'S! HER OTHER BROTHER IS NOW AT ARIZONA...BUT HE HASN'T BEEN THERE LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE AN IMPACT YET...I AM SURE HE WILL! NOW, IT IS GETTING LATE AND SINCE I NEED HELP GETTING TO BED, I BETTER SAY GOOD NIGHT FOR NOW. WARMLY, CAROL
UNCLE JOHN | 10/18/2004 5:14:15 PM |
CARL, JUST SAW YOU ON CHANNEL 4 NEWS AT 5PM. YOU, YOUR MOTHER AND FATHER DID A GREAT JOB. BASED UPON WHAT DR YOUNG SAID THE OTHER DAY AND TODAY, I THINK YOU COULD BE CHRISTOPHER REEVES REPLACEMENT, WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE CHAIR IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS. YOU WILL DO IT, IF ANYONE CAN AND I AM SURE YOU WILL RETURN TO ALL THE OTHERS WHO WILL SUFFER FUTURE ACCIDENTS ALL THE TIME AND ENERGY REEVES GAVE TO YOU AND OTHERS. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP AN EYE ON JOHN AND RYAN AT VILLANOVA, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN BED BY 10PM ON THE WEEDENDS.
Aunt Margaret | 10/18/2004 6:24:35 PM |

Cousin John | 10/20/2004 12:17:12 AM |
Well I just got back to my appartment after driving us back from Peter's house in Oprah. I forgot how that baby can drive. Sorry I had to take you and your brother's money in poker tonight but with the exception of Shane you guys always take mine during the summer. Yea the Yankees lost but it will be so much sweeter when we beat those Red Sox tomorrow night in another game 7 in the Bronx.
McCarey, Danny | 10/20/2004 12:38:19 AM |
Carl- I had a feeling tonight wasn't going to be the night. Especially after Bellhorn's homer call that the umps changed and then the ARod interference call change. It's going to be tough to concentrate at work waiting for the game. Who will be this year's Aaron Boone later tonight in Game 7? I have a weird feeling it will be Miguel Cairo. John's right, Game 7 will make it all the more sweeter to break the Sox's heart. Kevin Brown will finally have to earn his pinstripes for us to win. At this time tomorrow, Saturday's Game 1 of the World Series will be set Mussina v. Clemens ... how awesome is that going to be?

Very sincere and moving update from the Riccios, in particular on Christopher Reeve's legacy. If you read it and then reread it again -- it's what the fight for full blown stem cell research is all about: HOPE, LOVE, FAMILY, STRENGTH, etc. Carl continues to be in my prayers for good health and continued strength. And Prayer Works!!

Carl David Wright sent me an email last week. He was wondering where A-Rod and Jeter were playing golf this week. If you could get back to me, David Wright would be real thankful. Hope you are doing well! Go Sox! -Mr. Hoffman
