HEY CARL! WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND THERE? HOPE YOU'RE DOING WELL. BOTH IN SCHOOL AND WITH YOUR THERAPY...THAT CONTINUES ON AND ON UNTIL WE FIND THE CURE! WHICH I FEEL IS NOT TOO FAR IN THE FUTURE, DO YOU? I AM ENCOURAGED BY ALL THE ACTIVITY OF CHRISTOPHER REEVE'S WORK ON THE CRPA IN CONGRESS THIS SESSION. I MISSED MY P.T. TWO DAYS THIS WEEK DUE TO NOT FEELING WELL...I GOT A LOW GRADE FEVER, SORE THROAT, AND EAR ACHE WHICH SET MY BALANCE OFF...AND WHEN YOU HAVE DIFFICULTY WALKING IN THE FIRST PLACE, LOSS OF BALANCE IS A BIG DEAL! I THINK YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN... IT IS STILL HARD DEALING WITH MY MOM'S DEATH...EVEN THOUGH IT WAS WAY BACK IN APRIL...I MISS HER SO MUCH...SHE WAS SUCH A BIG PART OF MY DAILY LIFE. BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE YOUR FAMILY PULLING FOR YOU...IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD IN YOUR IMPROVEMENT. MY PRAYERS ARE ALWAYS WITH YOU...AND WITH YOUR FAMILY. STAY STRONG... STUDY HARD... WARMLY, CAROL

Dear Riccio Family - I read your monthly updates. I think the family is couragous, especially Mom and Dad. Your personalities come through in the updates. Pete, you articulate your feelings so well that I always feel your pain. I would think the same thoughts and feel the same way. Tricia, you are so amazing in your drive and determination to change the environment and world to accept Carl. My son left for college in September, too, except he is fine. He should only meet Carl to inspire him and find out what the meaning of family and daily life is all about. Carl could motiviate and inspire him. I always remember Carl in my prayers and keep him in my thoughts. I will lobby for stem cell when I can. It is a disgrace that this program is meeting so much resistance. For now, God bless Carl in his continued recovery and transition into college life.

Hi Carl! I was just thinking about you this morning and thought I'd check in. We've had a crazy year this year, and I've been without a computer until now. Doug continues to recover from Tommy John surgery. He was doing awesome, until a setback in early August (tore scar tissue) had him sit out for another end of the season. He had been in AAA for the St. Louis Cardinals, looking forward to a call up until that happened. I don't know how he does it, but he's in good spirits as he watches his team inch closer to the World Series. Maybe that's because God has blessed us with a beautiful baby girl. After struggling with another rough pregnancy, Aubrie Jane was born 10 weeks early, on April 17 at just 2 lbs and 5 oz. It was rough watching her fight for her life for the six weeks she was in the NICU, but she's home with us and doing great. To look at her, she's tiny, but you'd never know she was a preemie. She does have a little heart defect and may need surgery when she's two or three, but if you saw how she started, we're just thankful to have her in our lives. We continue to pray for you and think of you often. Much love, Alli, Doug, Colton and Aubrie Jane Creek

Hey Carl, I just wanted to tell you that I hope you are doing fine with the passing of Christopher Reeves. It was a great tradegy and I know you and him held a special connection. I also want to tell you that I regret not knowing you well when we went to school. Because now I can realize truly how great and strong of a person you are. I sold many tickits to your benefit dinner when I worked at the Warren Rec Fields and I continue to support the cause today. It's only a matter of time before the cure is found, so keep your head up Carl, and keep on fighting like the Warrior that you are.

Hi Carl, After hearing the news about Christopher Reeve's untimely passing, I was thinking about his family and then his "extended family" in the community of people working for progress toward an SCI cure. Condolences to you and to your family. No doubt this sad news will only strengthen all of your resolve to move forward into the future Christopher Reeve so vocally and steadfastly envisioned. I hope you are having blast at Villanova and feeling good! Okay, so it's rough going from being a senior ruling the school to being a freshman many of the girls don't notice while they're busy noticing the upper class guys, but this too shall pass..... ;-) ttfn, Gail (from The Princeton Review)

Hi Carl- Just a little note to let you know that we are all thinking of you today. I know how much Christopher Reeve meant to you and your family, and I'm sure this is a very sad day for you (actually, it's a sad day for everyone). He never gave up his hope and I know you and others like you will keep his hope alive-and some day will prove that he was right! Gary and I are heading down to Florida tomorrow - luckily we still have a house to go back to - only moderate damage from the 2 Hurricaines. Your house next door here in Lavallette is under way-our house vibrates with every piling!! I'm sure it will be beautiful and we will be anxious to see it next spring. Hopefully all is well with you; your health and your studies etc. I'm sure you must be one of the most popular guys on campus!! Be well - just wanted to let you know you are in our thoughts. Hugs, Nancie Parlin :-)

Hi Carl, I'm new to all this but Christopher R. passing has had an effect on a lot of people including me. If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. I'm a high school teacher out on disability so I can write a mean letter. Just let me know who it would do the most good to send it to. All the best to you and yours. Hi Carl. I'm sitting here with Kevin watching the Yankee game-I can't believe the Red Sox are catching up-8-7-I'm sure you're watching the game, too. I saw you and your mother on the news yesterday-you both did great and we're all so proud of you! Enjoy your fall break . Love, Aunt Margaret

Hello Carl, When I heard of the tragic passing of Christopher Reeve, my thoughts immediately went to you and your family. Although on one hand, his passing is I'm sure a great personal loss for you, the silver lining is that you were fortunate to be personally blessed by his inspriration while he was still on this earth. I know that you already have, and will continue to use that inspiration to meet your challenges head on. God Bless You Carl, Mr. Giannone pjgiannone@yahoo.com P.S. - Michael is doing well at the AFA Prep School. I spoke with him today and he told me he was just appointed Cadet Candidate Character Officer for the entire Prep School. He still misses home very much.
